Shakespeare DRAMA!!

This isn't Hollywood just a bunch of kids trying to get a scholar project together for the community. Tech week has Gabe thinking that make up is a pain. Usually putting that much on makes you look very orange..which it did..Time for mom to step in and help a little.

Sometimes as Mentors we take it too far. This time around the Mentor is crazy and to quote Javier, "Tech week turns our Mentors into cannibals." To be honest it did go a little too far this year. Poor Rodd all he wants to do is create these amazing programs for the families to cherish. The One Mentor in question always has a different idea. She seems to want and enjoy his work at the end yet she makes the process so stinkin difficult. She claims to appreciate our work yet she screams a whole different emotion. It's crazy to watch these poor youth be spoken to in such a negative format. The excuse? well it's tech week and when a Mentor gets stressed out this behavior is allowed. I sure wish Gabe didn't enjoy the "FRIEND" time or we would take our creative juices else where. Gabe is an amazing kid and Loves me dearly! I wanted to protect him so bad from the evil mentor but turns out he taught me more then I can ever imagine. The art of Peace and not giving a darn. You get real insight into how a person is with their family when they are under stress and though I DO NOT believe in her philosophy she yells enough at the kids to create a great show. Does that make it okay? Everyone has to make that decision for themselves.

nonetheless Gabe did an amazing job! He enjoyed the stage part because Mentors couldn't say a thing they could do whatever and the mentors couldn't yell back. It was great! Really!

He got to play a secret service man, boy did he take that part and run with it.
He got to wear a gun and when on stage he would joke around and show it off to others. It was so funny to watch!
The sunglasses were a favorite except he kept losing them and breaking them.
Mom to the rescue to get them back into place...except when the mentor demands that I am not allowed to help him back stage. Personal vendetta against  me... sure seems like that but again gotta learn the art of patience. Going Ghetto on her was NOT an option.

Gabe played a hippie as well. We had a lot of fun with that costume. Nani made the whole thing. It was so fun! She did an amazing job! Best costume on the stage for sure not too brag or anything. We are a family of over achievers.

He played his little heart out and danced the song away!

Gabe is my baby and will always hold a special part in my life. I can be very mama bear when I feel my child is under attack but he is such a calming soul. His enthusiasm and motivation is one to watch. This kid is going places, just wait and see. Nothing is going to stop him from building his dreams and seeing things happen the way he dreams it.
It truly was an amazing show. This kids are all amazing and try so hard to please all those around. It is very apparent come showtime. They are amazing to watch and the friendships they build are what keep them coming back for more. Gabe had a speaking part..which he pulled off with very little effort and... come on you know it's coming.......he was amazing~! who cares if it was a small part!

After bows leave it up to Gabe to have one more last ditch effort to show his humor. Oh no don't shoot the crowd.

Everyone came out to see him. He was so happy!

 Friendships that will grow!

After the last show we had the cast party at a local venue. It was neat to see all the families work together and create such a great party. We were so exhausted emotionally that I actually couldn't wait to get out of there and feed my Pepsi addiction. Gabe had a blast running around with friends reaping havoc I am sure. During the award ceremony he got a card and candy and a big hug from the mentors.
Congrats to all the cast members of A Midsummer Nights Dream. It truly may have been worth all the blood, sweat, tears and words of anger.
Here is a taste of what Rodd really wanted to do for them. He really needs to keep his creative juices just in our family. He does these amazing things for our kids sometimes he figures we should share but this time it got way too hostile.
It was a groovy play with some very different casting that took some getting use to for Gabe but in the end it was great. Though our family doesn't share in the teaching philosophy of all those who surround us we do appreciate the time put into our children. We give so much back into our community that we understand that sometimes a teacher/mentors job can be under appreciated in theory. Our family will always remember the time someone has put into our children to better shape them in their future adventures. We look forward to a fantastic summer and mostly can't wait for what lies ahead in Gabe's life. The world is his canvas. No joke!
