Soaring Eagle

This is a jam packed week. We all know that Javier was very close to his 18th Birthday when he decided he wanted to finish his Eagle project. He got his book in on time and then there was just a waiting period to see if his book and project had all the right information in it. Then it is passed on to the Eagle board for review. They eventually schedule a board of review which is a lot like an oral exam. They ask questions and put the scout on edge, test him on various aspects of leadership and also on their projects. We got the phone call with a date and since Javier is away at college it was hard getting one to work. We knew he was coming home before we left for Chile so his time home was a work weekend.

At his Eagle board of Review I was very nervous. You hear stories of people who are denied an Eagle statues so the waiting time was hard.

When the board of Review was complete they sent Javier back to be with us as they discussed whether or not they would be awarding him his Eagle status. Javier was relieved that it was over. Analise was jut too tired to care. It was WAY past her bedtime when all this happened. I am so grateful they were willing to accommodate our tight schedule.

They called us all in and told Javier welcome to the Eagles Nest. They said that Javier was one of the best applicants they have seen in a long time. He stands above most Eagles and they were very impressed by him and his abilities. We were so proud to hear these words. We all know Javier is going places I just wonder where sometimes.

Then they gave him an opportunity to read the Letters of Recommendation that were turned in on his behalf. Well actually they gave him a choice and we all know he wouldn't pass up an opportunity to see what people say about him.

As a family we are so proud that Javier made the decision he made. I hope that as he grows into his adulthood he will continue to make the best decisions possible to him. He has completed 10 years in the scouting program. That is more then half his life and what a commitment this as been. We Love you dearly and Wish you the best in all your future adventures.
