Once we arrived we picked our camp site and started setting up tents and cooking areas before the sun set and we were out of light. As soon as the lanterns were turned on the bugs and mosquitos came flying. No fun!! I am not a fan of bugs, but I can be brave and show my girls what camping is all about.

The scouts were running around in the dark and Gabe, my dare devil, was headed out without a flashlight. As he was running away trying not to get tagged he ran into a barbed wire fence.
Then I witnessed Mr D. go from a calm relaxing mode to a father with a lot of concern for Gabe. There was a lot of blood and he was very focused on stopping the blood and getting him to the hospital and stitching up the cut. I think Mr D sometimes wishes he was faster at getting him a flashlight or even paid more attention to what they were doing. The other side is that sometimes Gabe goes and does things that others aren't doing and he learns why they aren't in a very difficult manner.

Since we were on top of a hill we were 45 minutes from a local hospital. At Palomar Hospital Analise started to get very tired and made herself a bed.

Elly and I passed the time playing peek-a-boo.

We left the ER with Gabe all stitched up close to midnight and decided to head home rather than make the climb up the mountain.

We headed up first thing in the morning.

We spent a couple hours with everyone and enjoyed some great conversation

and then we decided to finish the day out with a family road trip home.

It was stop at a scenic look out point and head to Dudley's bakery and eat famous Julian pie and picnic where we could find shade. It was a lot of fun. We laughed about various stories. Then we road tripped it home through Ramona. Once home we showered, cleaned up and watched some family classic movies. It was a good day ... we did escape with just a few scrapes and bruises.
