2 Day Adventure

Every year the boys have this great opportunity to spend a week in Catalina. There they get to put some science to use through a hands on program mixed with some water sports. The only negative thing for me is the early drive to Long Beach. They have to be at the boat by 8 am on Monday (which is next to the Queen Mary). This year I didn't want to wake the kids up that early so my solution to the problem was to go up the night before ( Sunday) and stay in a local hotel that was walking distance from the the boat dock. It is always hard to stay in an unfamiliar area and pick a hotel online.. In this case I am very happy with our selection. We stayed at the Hotel Maya and I loved it. Our room had a gorgeous view of the bay and of the Queen Mary Boat. We did a little exploring before we ended the night to prepare for our early morning. They had the best outdoor fire pit..

my favorite part had to be all the areas to sit and lounge. This is exactly how I want my backyard to be.

I was bummed that Mr. D (Mr. Wonderful as some would describe him....hmmm) was unable to attend with us. We got to skype that night and say our good-nights.. It was just a wonderful relaxing evening.

As morning came it was definitely nice to NOT have to drive to our location and even better was the sleeping in part. We could see the dock from our balcony so we timed our arrival perfect. Okay maybe as we were walking we got a "Where on earth are you" call but no worries the boys made it just in time to board the boat.

The rest of us spent the day exploring and then we headed to Anaheim to visit with Charlene. We had lunch at Panera Bread and ate it at a local park. Landon wasn't feeling it there for awhile but he worked through it and it ended up being a great day.

We arrived back home pretty late into the evening.. but in all honesty it may have been early for others but I was just soo tired from our adventures it felt very late to my body. :)
