Okay it's fireworks day! Except this is the first time I didn't get fireworks to light up on our own. Boo! But guess what we are going g to make this a great day...I just know it. Okay well I started the morning off with a 5:
30 am wake up by a scraping and rumbling..either the AC went out gah! Or our attic fan motor is going out or maybe it caught something as it was turning. But it definitely was a weird scraping rumbling sound. We never figured out what it was. So the morning continued. Rodd played soccer this AM and you would never know it but eeek! Xandi is in town and boy were we excited to see her. Probably not as excited as Kitty.
We started the morning off with some red white and blue goodness.
Yum yum! The girls prepared for the celebration by blowing up their pool toys.
Lunch was made as breakfast. Everyone in this house wakes up so late. We made some blueberry French toast casserole. Can we just see the sugar high established this AM?
I have been trying to get my firepit benches done. First step was waterproofing them. So what better day to do it then when everyone is home and being lazy. Let's get some work done.
I had to customize the size so we glued two pieces of foam together and then we had to glue the plastic cover to them.
Gotta love duct tape. We used it to seal and opening.
Elly is my little princess and girly girl for sure. She begged to do Nani's hair. It turned out pretty good.
Okay here's the truth. I love my new car but miss the number of seats in the suburban. We went from a 9 seater to a 7 seater. It is very noticeable when we want to take just one car and have visitors.
Doesn't Gabe look excited! It's okay he get very unHappy later. But Elly and I sported some pretty cool patriotic sunglasses.
We walked the community fair here in Rancho bernardo. I always forget how cool they turn out. We really should go next year when they are not closing. We seem to hit them every year as they are all packing it up.
This totally rumbles my car as it passed me. It was pretty cool looking though. Lambourgini cars aren't always around us and this one had a teenager driver.
Four fourth celebration we went to Rodd's sisters house Tess. We celebrated her birthday which was a week ago and her graduation which was a couple weeks ago and of course our Independence Day.
She had a little trouble blowing out the candle so the photographers made her do it again.
We made her a gift. Sometimes it's nice to give something that stands out a little.
Elly made her card. It was the sweetest thing.
And so colorful just like those flowers.
We had fun figuring out what to do with that vase. This is what we came up with.
The kids big and small played outside a card game called scum. It's pretty addicting and fun.
I mostly enjoyed the Hot tub.
Elly was a fish as usual and pretty much swam the whole 4 hours we were there.
Still so stoked that Nani was here visiting.
Wanna know the best part about holidays! Well the moments where you just hang out with family of course.
Sometimes I have to remind myself but it's so totally true. I'm pretty lucky to be married to this man.
And to have so many family members by our side.
Did you catch that photo bomb 👆? Let's do it again.
Bassam was visiting here in San Diego today. It's always good to see him. He has been a de Guzman friend forever or though it seems.
And now we have reached my favorite part of the day. Firework time..we went to a private spot and then we found it locked. Are you feeling stressed or want to say oh no they are going to miss the fireworks. Don't fret where there is a will there is a way. We just had to find patience.
I spotted a flag bandana.
We had a pretty amazing view as we were rooftop. It was amazing.
FIREWORKS!
We ended the night with a review and reflections of the night. Every created created a call to action for tomorrow and of course with some scum.
Elly cried when she was dethroned as king and then as queen by Rodd. He is a very serious game player. Concentrating and planning strategy...against our 7 year old ha!
You know it's down to a good game when no one can beat this hand.
Well happy 4th of July. Hope we all remembered what this day really stands for and what sacrifices went into making this dream a reality. A free nation that stands above all.
